The Faroe Islands in summer
June through August: the islands open up.
Summer in the Faroes means temperatures of 10–14°C, occasional sun, and daylight that barely ends. The famous puffin colonies on Mykines are open to guided visits from 1 May to 31 August, when the Sørvágur ferry sails daily; bookings for the season open in early February. All ferries run on full schedules.
The cost: weather is least dramatic in summer. If you came for storms and brooding fog, late September delivers more.

Ferry runs daily — ridge walk is at its safest.

Sunset stretches to 23:00 in late June.

Lagoon at its most photogenic in low-angle summer light.

The colonies at full strength, with the ferry sailing daily.

The midsummer summit tradition: watch the sun set and rise again a few hours later.

Storm petrels return to the colony after midnight.

The outermost island — summer is when the boat actually runs to plan.
