Mykines is run by the weather. The ferry sails only when the swell allows it, which in practice means many summer days and very few winter ones. You go when the island lets you.
The puffins do not perform. They live here. The guided walk into the outfield passes their colonies, and the path on to the lighthouse on Mykineshólmur is closed. Sit, do not approach, and they will go about their work as if you were a rock.
