Fog conditions in the Faroe Islands
Faroese fog has a rhythm. Learn it.
Sea fog forms when warm Gulf Stream air crosses cold land. It usually dissipates by mid-morning as the land warms — but on overcast days it can persist for 24+ hours.
Orographic cloud is different: it forms when wind pushes air up and over a ridgeline. These banks are predictable from the synoptic chart and often produce the most cinematic conditions.
